Basement & Shogun Recs: Appäratus’ Hardcore Religion LP!

image

Nah, besar punya!! Here’s APPÃRATUS’ debut LP, finally out after going through so many delays, pit-stops and what-nots. First it was supposed to be released by Yellow Dog (Germany), then our very own Jerryzon’s label Black Seeds (now back in KL after a long stint in Ireland), but it’s really is out now, after almost a year (or maybe more). I remember spending quite a time cleaning up the artwork at the old Ricecooker Shop preparing it for the sleeves months and months ago.

This “yellow sleeve version” is released in France by Shogun Records. The Malaysian version (I don’t know what colour the sleeve gonna be) will be out next month. Basement actually announced this yellow version arrival about two weeks ago but there are only 8 copies for sale from Shammir, so if you want this nice yellow version, do contact Shogun or the band themselves.

I got mine from Along a few days ago and while it is exciting to hold it in my hands, I find the one-sided sleeve and one-sided lyrics sheet are a bit too flimsy. I was hoping for a full-blown normal, hard-paper, laminated LP sleeve; y’know like normal high-quality LPs lah. That said, the vinyl is pretty heavy, so I guess that compensates the weaknesses.

How does it sound? Well, my phono amp is still in repairs but here’s a song from it:
