Kimung - Myself: Scumbag (MinorBooks)

Thanks to Merve Espina for pointing this out for us here.

Myself: Scumbag is a book detailing the life of Ivan Scumbag, written by fellow band member Kimung; both active in the early Bandung hardcore scene (especially the Ujungberung crew) and also members of Burgerkill.

It was launched in Bandung last month, complete with the appearance of Burgerkill playing an acoustic set. Read the report here.

Here’s an excerpt from a review in DeathRockStar:

- read more here.

Written in Indonesian, the book is published by Minorbooks and available from Common Room in Bandung. Hopefully we’ll get it here in KL soon.

Common Room can be contacted here

Xing Wu: Jean-Luc Guionnet & Seijiro Murayama

Jean-Luc Guionnet & Seijiro Murayama
LE BRUIT DU TOIT, CD 4-Panel Digipak

“LE BRUIT DU TOIT is a rare meeting, and a recording which took place at a Buddhist temple in Mishima, between two stalwarts of music — Seijiro Murayama, founding figure of numerous seminal avant-rock outfits during the 80s/90s like Fushitsusha (Murayama was its original drummer) and ANP (Absolut Null Punkt); and Jean-Luc Guionnet, already a veteran and a revered artist in the musical constellation of sound art/composition and improvised music.

Black Konflik Records: Lebenden Toten - State Slaughter Tape - Out Now!

They sound like Japanese but actually from Portland, USA; featuring ex-member and members of Atrocious Madness (Frank and Chanel), Deathcharge, Hellshock, etc. so the band is like a Portland all-star project.

If you like Jap legends Confuse or Gai mixed with classic UK82 noisemongers Disorder then this will be a classic. It is fully charged with agonising feedbacking mega-distort guitars (ala early JAMC) and a female singer going spazztix over the clattering explosive racket. You should be able to make up your minds by playing that track below.

here’s the note from Aizu:

LEBENDEN TOTEN
State Laughter discography cassette

PDX punk ‘blood drinker noise makers’ discography on cassette. Destructing noise core punk! An unrepentant display of music ineptitude and lyrical disinterment!. Ex-member of ATROCIOUS MADNESS. Distort portland! Noisecore punk rules.
