RAT & Projek KoKEN: Tanda – Teater Kompilasi Vol. 3, PJ

image

Tanda, the 3rd of Rumah Anak Teater & Projek KoKEN’s compilations of works, was recently stopped from staging at the ASWARA (the government’s art school) after two days. The reasoning from ASWARA is hilarious, if not tragic.

Read about it here: Malay Mail

However, that didn’t stop the group to get on with it. The play is now staging at Petaling Jaya’s PJ Live Arts. Details on the flyer.

B.O.W. & Disarmament Records: Gallery!

image

according to crust-demos: “a sludge/crust metal band from Los Angeles, USA and this is their web release demo recorded in 2009: It comes with nice artwork done by the bassist of the band and the package includes the lyrics. Music wise this is doom/sludge with moments of crusty flavor and delivers a blending of Black Sabbath riffs (check Soulkrusher’s opening and bridge riffs and most of guitar work in other songs, there is always a Sabbath feeling everywhere), Skaven’s heaviness and Dystopia’s intensity, (these bands are mentioned in their myspace as inspiration). The six tracks move in slow pacing and last over 28 minutes, singers throaty yells/screams fit nicely, lyrics are pessimistic and dark is it is expected and the sound quality is excellent. “

Band: myspace.com/gallerysludge
Order: myspace.com/disarmament

ricecooker note: GALLERY is awesome man! Surely one of the best bands plying the new return to stench-core of yore and then some. Looking at their myspace page, they looked pretty young to me and the songs here tell me the influences are varied; from heavy-howlin’ psychedelic stoner grooves to darkest crust; all added into the stench-some cauldron. The thing is, this is just a demo release. I just hope the upcoming proper release would keep the dirt and rust and the crawling terror intact. Can’t wait to hear more!

Friday, 5th March 2010: Mossuraya in Singapore

image

In October last year we told you that a band from Switzerland is coming over for a visit in the region. We noted them as “friends of SOL which haeve been playing around the squats, festivals etc in Europe for the last 6 years and described as “noise-punk-grind-freejazz-cabaret-disco-hardcore”, so they are not a typical bunch of serious d-beat crusties.”

more on that post here: MOSSURAYA: Swiss Cabaret! SEA Tour

At this point, we don’t know if they will be in Malaysia or not but a show in Singapore is already being booked.

here’s the note from Prohibited Projects:

Tuesday, 6th & Wednesday, 7th April 2010: Vialka! Short Visit

image

from their site:

“Vialka hail from deepest France, via everywhere and nowhere. They are a devilishly high-spirited guitar/drums duo who tour hard and fast across the world. Their music skips joyfully across borders, channeling desert blues, Chinese folk songs, scatter rock and European gypsy song dynamics in a whirlwind of dervish energy. Their endless gypsy punk folk rock tales, hard hitting poly-rhythms and yelps and howls make for a danceable and intoxicating brew. Like A Hawk And A Hacksaw or The Ex their openness to new sounds and cultures makes you feel alive and shows that ‘world punk rock’ need not be a dirty phrase.”

Two shows, one in KL and the other in Singapore as Vialka made their way around the world travelling the breadth of UK, China and the USA!
